DJ Short, the Blueberry strain breeder, is said to have “inherited his passion for cannabis and natural ability to successfully crossbreed sativa and indica… from his Romanian great-grandmother.”

Legend has it that Short traveled the world collecting samples and seeds from oodles of famed landrace weed species. He came back and bred the souvenirs into several first-generation strains, still considered legendary today.

Blueberry is a strain forged from Short’s earlier creations. First, he crossed an Afghani landrace with a strain called Purple Thai, creating an unnamed first-generation breed. He crossed that unnamed cultivar with a Highland Thai cannabis strain, thus inventing Blueberry. The rest is history.

What does Blueberry taste and smell like?

This strain smells like its namesake. The taste, upon smoking, is also berry-twinged. It’s of interest to note that the buds may appear to have a slight lavender-blue twinge when you look closely at the flower.
